How to Get Help

Our application process is currently on hold as we work to wrap up our 2026 cases. Here are some other ways to get help: 

• You may be able to get assistance from Legal Services Alabama. Click here for more information. 
   

• If you have received an eviction notice or have an upcoming court date, VLB staff will be available to conduct intake at the Jefferson County Courthouse on Monday mornings from 9:00 - 12:00. (Go to the 5th floor and follow the signs.) 

  • If you are not able to make it to the courthouse during these hours, call VLB at 205.250.5198 and leave a voicemail.  
     

• To get on our waitlist for 2027 Expungement Clinics, click here to fill out an interest form. 
   

• ​For help finding an attorney in Birmingham, you can use the Birmingham Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service.
   

• ​If you live outside Jefferson County, please contact the Alabama State Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program.
